An urgent recall has been issued by the FSAI for cheese products sold in Irish supermarkets over infection concerns.
Customers are advised not to consume certain batches of Old Irish Creamery Cheese cheddar products, available at Tesco and SuperValu, due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, which can lead to serious health complications in severe cases.

"The incubation period (the time between infection and the onset of symptoms) typically averages three weeks but can range from 3 to 70 days," authorities warned.

Separately, a recall has also been issued for a specific batch of Deluxe cheddar cheese wedges sold in Lidl due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The affected products include:
- Deluxe Walnut Cheddar Cheese Wedge (150g, Approval No: IE 1059 EC)
- Deluxe Oak Smoked Cheddar Cheese Wedge (150g, Approval No: IE 1059 EC)
