Reese Witherspoon has revealed the actress who will portray a young Elle Woods in the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel series.

The 48-year-old actress, who originally played Elle in the 2001 hit comedy and its 2003 sequel, is serving as an executive producer on the Prime Video series.

On Thursday, Witherspoon shared a heartwarming video on Instagram, capturing the moment she delivered the news to actress Lexi Minetree after her audition. “I wanted to say your audition tape was amazing,” Witherspoon told Minetree.

“As we discussed, we had a really tough decision to make, and we wanted to tell you in person because you've worked so hard. And we just wanted to let you know—you don’t have to audition anymore because you got the part.

You’re Elle Woods.” Overcome with emotion, Minetree began to cry before calling her mother to share the exciting news.

Produced by Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, now part of Candle Media, the series—titled Elle—will explore the character’s life before the events of Legally Blonde.

The original film follows Elle Woods, a determined sorority girl who surprises everyone by earning a spot at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend, only to discover her own potential as a brilliant legal mind.

Witherspoon captioned her Instagram post: "Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After watching so many incredible auditions for the new Elle prequel series on @PrimeVideo, we finally found our Elle. And today, I got to break the news myself!"
