We've all been there.
Life can get so hectic that getting fit can be the last thing on your mind.
With there being such massive benefits for the whole family up for grabs, it's so important to get that physical activity in.
Believe it or not, there are simple ways to get fit together, without having to be the strongest athletes around.
Here's how you can do it.
Cycle
Cycling is a fantastic form of exercise for your family. It gets those hearts and muscles working, you can get out for some fresh air and even take in some scenic views while you're at it.
Run
Running can teach your family a lot about setting and achieving goals and can really give them a sense of accomplishment. Park Run is a great initiative, which organises free, weekly, 5km timed runs. They are open to adults and children alike, all around the country. The Dublin locations include Ardgillan, Terenure and Cabinteely, to name a few. You can see the full list here.
Join a Class
Classes can create a level of discipline around working out, while also giving you something fun to look forward to. If you're finding it difficult to find group classes that suits, why not take individual dance classes and compare moves afterwards?
Turn Everyday Things Into Games
While taking in the washing off the line, there's no harm in breaking into a spontaneous game of 'Get the ball in the wash basket,' out the back garden. Plus, you're making chores fun, so it's a win-win.
Have a Family Sports Day
Designate one day a week to play sport. That could be a game of football on a Saturday morning or some tennis on a Tuesday evening, but the TV has to go off and all family members must take part.
Active Days Out
While cinema trips are great, try add in some active days out too. Go on a hike, take the dog to the park or go to a rock climbing centre.
Swimming
This is a great one because kids absolutely love swimming, but it's also an incredible workout for you. (It's tougher than it looks!)
Get Competitive
Competition is one of the best ways to get motivated. Who can win a race home? How fast can you clean the car? The possibilities are endless, but it'll get you moving.
Start Walking
It's easy to jump in the car for the trip to school or when going around to the shops. If you're within walking distance, go for it.
Cook Together
While you can do all the exercise in the world, it's vital that you don't forget about your diet. Food is more enjoyable when you put your heart and soul into it, so get everyone involved and see what amazing, healthy creations you can come up with.
