Forty families have been moved off the housing waiting list and into new homes in Drumcondra today.
A new €10.5m apartment block on the Richmond Road has officially opened.
The social housing development is made up of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes.
Egle Riaukiele, who was living in emergency accommodation with her two daughters, describes what it was like to get the keys.
"Oh my gosh," she said.
"We are very happy, very happy.
"We came over here on the first day to have a look.
"We feel like we have a house, a home. We feel secure."
