The Army Bomb squad was called to an apartment block in Santry village last night.
They were drafted in after a suspicious device was found at Schoolhouse Lane.
The area was cordoned off with the Ordnance Disposal Truck, a number of heavily armed soldiers and 5 garda vehicles all at the scene.
Gardaí say the device was found to be nonviable after an examination by experts and the Garda cordon was lifted.
Enquiries remain ongoing.
