A boil water notice for parts of the northside and west of the city may not be lifted for several days.
It was issued by Irish Water yesterday evening after a problem at the treatment plant in Leixlip - affecting 600,000 people.
The areas affected by the boil water notice stretch from the north inner suburbs up to Skerries, Balbriggan, Howth, Donabate, Rush and Malahide - and to the west of the city, as far as Lucan, Ronanstown, Corduff and Clonsilla.
In Kildare, Leixlip, Celbridge, Maynooth and Straffan are all affected, as is Dunboyne in Meath.

It's after a mechanical fault at the water treatment plant in Leixlip.
Irish Water says its now been fixed, but some untreated water still made it's way into the system.
Spokesperson, Yvonne Harris explains.
Irish Water says water quality will be tested over the coming days and the boil water notice will be removed once it is deemed safe to do so.
People are advised to visit water.ie for more information - the site crashed yesterday for for a time after the notice was put in place but it's now back up and running.
