A car has gone on fire on the off ramp at Junction 11 at Tallaght.
Gardai and the fire brigade as well as the ambulance service are currently at the scene.
There are tailback delays on the M50 as cars try to avoid the area.
There is a large amount of thick smoke in the area, and drivers are being urged be careful.
In a statement Garda Press Office said: "Gardai and Emergency Services are currently at the scene of an incident on the M50 Junction 11 Tallaght".
