Dublin city council has voted for increasing the share of Priory Hall that's used for social housing - The council owns most of the development and it’s spending about €27 million on refurbishing it. The plan was to use 20 percent of the units for social housing - Following the motion passed at last night's meeting - but the council now hopes to increase that to 30 - with another 30 percent for affordable housing. A separate motion to set aside 100 per cent of the Priory Hall apartments for social and affordable housing was rejected. The vote was tied at 24 votes for and against but was defeated by the Lord Mayor Brendan Carr’s casting vote.
