There has been a 22 percent drop in number of properties available under the Housing Assistance Payment, despite there being an increasing number of properties on the market.
A new report from the Simon Communities shows 148 properties are available under HAP, compared to 190 in the last quarter.
It comes as the number of properties available to rent at any price over the same period increased by 33 percent, to 1,017.
Spokesperson for the charity, Wayne Stanley, says action needs to make the HAP scheme more accessible for people.
