Property tax cuts could be on the way for Dublin homeowners.
It's reported that a reform of how rates are set - is being considered by the Government.
Dublin home-owners could be in line for a cut to their local property tax - compared to the rest of the country.
The Taoiseach has confirmed that the Government is considering giving more powers to local councillors - allowing them to vary the rates that are charged to households.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, Leo Varadkar says the move aims to prevent a massive hike in LPT bills later this year.
Local reps can already vary the rate up or down by 15 percent but this new proposal would give them more freedom.
At the moment, only the four Dublin councils - where house prices are the highest - have voted to slash the rate of the LPT.
While, 5 other councils around the country have voted to increase the rate - in a bid to raise funds for local services.
Leo Varadkar also told the paper that the Government will find a way to ensure that the vast majority of people will pay the same amount of property tax.
