Drug taking and “open sex” in broad daylight.
That’s what residents in the inner city are faced with on their doorstep, according to a local rep.
Christy Burke says boarders in hostels are participating in anti-social behaviour, once they leave the facilities for the day.
The City Councillor wants the Guards to step in immediately:
"I've people on to me at 7 o'clock, half seven in the mornings and it's only getting bright.
"They're telling me 'Christy they're on the stairs, Christy they were in the little garden yesterday and they were having open sex' at three o'clock in the day.
"That just can't be tolerated, you know get a room.
"Then you have people congregating for hours on end and they're using drugs.
"Again it's a minority but it's unacceptable behaviour and like it or not it has to stop."
The Independent Councillor wants to see a better Garda presence in the area:
"We've agreed to call a special Joint Policing Committee in order to address specifically the ongoing issues that have been there for some time now and it's causing havoc with anti-social behavior.
"It's intimidating and it's unfair to local residents."
