Most New Year's Day babies born across the globe today are expected to be born in India.
Unicef Ireland says it's forecast to have 67 thousand 385 babies born, followed by China, Nigeria, Pakistan and Indonesia.
Newborns dying in the first month made up 47 per cent of all deaths among children under five in 2018, up from 40 per cent in 1990.
