Man arrested in connection with carjacking and burglaries in Dublin and Wicklow

A man hijacked a woman's car in Walkinstown, while staff were also threatened in Bray and Rathnew.

A man has been arrested after a carjacking in Dublin and two robberies in County Wicklow.

A man approached a woman in her 30s driving a black Nissan on St. Peter's Road in Walkinstown and threatened her at around a quarter to 8 on Saturday night.

She managed to get out of the car but the man took control of it and drove off.

Half an hour later, a man burst into a store on the Dublin Road in Bray brandishing an implement - he threatened staff and robbed alcohol.

Then, a shop in Rathnew was robbed when a man also threatened staff with an implement and took cash.

A garda spokesperson says the car used during the two robberies is believed to be the black Nissan Qashqai that had been stolen earlier:

"Gardaí attended the scene following report of a carjacking at a commercial premises on St. Peter’s Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12, on the evening of Saturday 26th April 2025. At approximately 7.45pm, a male approached a black Nissan Quasquai and threatened the female driver of the car (aged in her 30’s) who exited the vehicle. The male then took control of the vehicle and drove off.
 
"Later that evening, Gardaí responded to reports of a robbery at a commercial premises on the Dublin Road, Bray, Co. Dublin, that occurred at approximately 8.15pm. A male entered the store brandishing an implement and threatened staff. A quantity of alcohol was taken. Shortly after 8.45pm, Gardaí responded to reports of a separate robbery at a commercial premises in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow. A male entered the store and threatened staff with an implement."

"Gardaí believed that the vehicle used during the two robberies was the black Nissan Quasquai that had been stolen earlier."

A man in his 40s remains in custody this morning at a Dublin Garda station, and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

In particular, Gardaí are looking for those with dash-cam footage as well as anyone who may have seen a 141-MH registration Black Nissan Qashqai between Clondalkin and Rathnew, between 7:30pm and 9:30pm.
