Detectives carried out a number of searches in the Eastern Region yesterday.

Detectives, supported by the anti corruption unit, carried out a number of searches yesterday in relation to organised crime within the Eastern Region.

It's after drugs, believed to be worth €100,000, were taken from an evidence locker in a Garda station in January last year.

A Garda has been arrested under organised crime legislation.

As well as that, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s are currently detained at Garda stations in the Midlands.

A male in his 40s remains in custody at a Garda Station in the east of the country for alleged related corruption offences.

Two men in their 40s and 50s who were arrested and detained for alleged related drug trafficking have since been released, pending files to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
