The National Museum has unveiled it's plans for an 85 million euro revamp.
Under the multimillion euro cash injection, it hopes to link the two museums on Kildare and Merrion streets.
Collins Barracks will also benefits from the project - with new galleries for earth, science and world cultures among the plans.
Director of the NMI, Raghnall O'Floinn says the development is a long time coming.
