The Taoiseach said that the public "aren't excited" about the issue.
Almost two-thirds of voters agree with the Opposition in the row over Dáil speaking time.
That's one of the findings of the latest Ireland Thinks poll in today's Sunday Independent.
After a messy start to the 34th Dáil, divisions still remain between the Government and the Opposition about whether independent TDs who support the new government should be given opposition speaking time.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin recently claimed the "public aren't excited" by the issue.
However, 63 per cent of voters polled by Ireland Thinks say they side with the Opposition, who are united in their position that the Regional Independents and Danny Healy-Rae should only speak from the Government benches in the Dáil.
When asked who'd get their first preference if there was another election right now, 24 per cent said Fianna Fáil, 22 per cent said Sinn Féin, 20 per cent would favour Fine Gael, with 9 per cent going for 'independents and others'.
