A pint of Guinness in the capital could now set you back nearly €8.

Soaring inflation has caused the price of a pint to rise by 20c in six months

The Temple Bar pub is now charging €7.95 for a pint of plain and €8.95 for a pint of Heineken.

The Herald surveyed 100 pubs across Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, and Drogheda, and found many pubs are increasing their prices to combat soaring energy bills.

Vinters Federation of Ireland Chief Paul Clancy said there is a "deep worry" in the pub trade about their survival during the upcoming winter months.
