There are plans to build a school on the grounds of the former greyhound stadium at Harold's Cross.
Bord na gCon's accepted an offer made by the Department of Education and Skills to aquire the site.
Minister Richard Bruton said the offer had been made with a view to facilitating the development of additional school infrastructure in the south Dublin city area.
