Severed hand found at North Dublin school

The grim discovery was made this afternoon.

Gardaí are investigating after partial human remains were discovered on the Northside. 

They've been removed for an exam and DNA analysis. 

The Irish Independent reports that a severed hand was found at Our Lady Immaculate School in Darndale earlier this afternoon. 

The Guards have now removed the remains for an exam and DNA analysis. 

A spokesperson says this will help them confirm the identity, and determine the course of the investigation:

"Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of partial human remains at a premises in Darndale, Dublin 17 this afternoon, Friday 21st February 2025.

A scene is currently being held and the State Pathologist has been notified, in line with standard practice.

The remains will be removed for examination and DNA analysis, which will assist Gardaí in confirming the identityand determine the course of the investigation."

"Enquiries are ongoing," the spokesperson added. 

The scene has been preserved and the State Pathologist has been notified.
