17,000 people living in Ireland with a UK driving license are yet to switch to the Irish version.
That's despite it being illegal for them to drive with one from January 1st due to Brexit.
In person appointments to switch at the National Driver License Service have been restricted to essential workers only during Level 5.
However Government TD, Neale Richmond, says online applications will open in a fortnight.
