West Ham manager, Slaven Bilic, says Andy Carroll is doing fine despite his ordeal on Wednesday.
The striker was threatened by men claiming to be armed with a gun in an attempted robbery as he returned home from a training session.
He was approached by two motorcyclists at a junction just before 1pm on Wednesday - they gestured that they had a firearm.
Carroll sped off when they demanded he stop and he was chased through the streets as he returned to the Rush Green training ground to seek the help of security staff.
"It's scarey but he's ok. He was probably targeted, I don't think it was coincidence," said Bilic.
"It was like a chase for fifteen or twenty minutes so it was probaby planned. He was very brave to do what he did. He came back to the training ground and the chase stopped.
"He's good, he's ok, he's not in shock - he's a really brave man. Whatever he needs we'll provide him with it - whether it's counselling or whatever."
