It wasn't to be for Nhat Nguyen as the 21 year-old made his exit from the Olympic Games in Tokyo on Wednesday.

Playing tenth seed, Wang Tzu-Wei, Nguyen lost the first set 21-12.

He came more into the match in the second set and made a strong, positive start, going into a 9-3 lead.

Wang dug in to level it 15 points apiece  but Nguyen  held his nerve to see out the set 21-18 and take it to a tiebreak.

Despite trading points with Wang, level at 10-10, the player from Taiwan took the set 21-12 and advanced to the last sixteen.
