The Lions are settling into their base in Auckland after their long journey to New Zealand.
Warren Gatland will name his team on Wednesday night to play the New Zealand Provincial Barbarians on Saturday.
The head coach says players who only linked up with the squad this week are very unlikely to feature. He says it will be hard to manage tired bodies over the first couple of days.
"It'll be tough to be up and running for Saturday," said Gatland.
"A lot of the players for the team for Saturday have been working together over the last couple of weeks so hopefully they got a bit of a head start in terms of preparation and that should make it a little bit easier.
"The next two days are going to be key to how we recover from the long journey."
Gatland also made it very clear where his priority lies in the ten match, three test series.
"It's all about winning the Tests," Gatland said when quizzed on the importance of winning the seven other games, six of which lead into the First Test in Auckland on June 24th.
"What I learned in 2013 is 'who remembers the midweek games, who remembers the other games?'
"If we drop a game or two on the way as we are looking at combinations or trying things out, it won't be the end of the world. It's all about preparing (for) and winning the Tests."
