Almandin has won the Melbourne Cup.
Trained by Robert Hickmott and ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, he just edged out Irish raider, Heartbreak City, in the narrowest of finishes in the world's richest two-mile handicap.
Pre-race favourite, Hartnell, finished third in front of 97,000 people who turned out to watch the Race that Stops a Nation.

After the race trainer of Heartbreak City, Tony Martin said: "The emotions were very high.
"I gave him all the pushing and shoving I could from the stands, but, unfortunately, it wasn't enough.
"Everything went to plan, everything was great, it's just a pity we didn't have somebody to tow us into the straight a little bit further.
"Other than that, everything went well - I couldn't be happier! If we have to lock him up until next year, he's coming back here next year, all being well."

The Aidan O'Brien trained, Bondi Beach, could only manage 13th while the Willie Mullins trained, Wicklow Brave came home 22nd.
The race turned out to be one to remember for one Australian punter who pulled off one of the most outlandish bets in Melbourne Cup history, turning $10 into almost $242,000 by picking the first four in the correct order!
