The home side went in 14 - 10 up at the break thanks to first half tries from Ronan O'Mahony and Simon Zebo and they then dominated in the second half with Tommy O'Donnell and man of the match, CJ Stander, also going over.
Leinster scored first and last in Limerick but came away with nothing to show for their efforts, Zane Kirchner zooming over in the 17th minute and Richardt Strauss' consolation effort coming with just four minutes remaining. Isa Nacewa scored two conversions and a penalty.
Next up for Leinster is a home tie with Ulster at the RDS on Saturday.
