Republic of Ireland manager, Martin O'Neill has become the favourite to succeed Mark Hughes as the main man at Stoke.
Hughes was sacked on Saturday, after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup.
The Welshman's dismissal was coming for some time, with the club on a dismal run of form that has them third from bottom in the Premier League table.
Stoke Chairman, Peter Coates and his son John, who's the vice-chairman will meet today to discuss the a shortlist of candidates.
It has emerged that current Ireland boss, Martin O'Neill would be at the top of their list.
With Ireland not involved in this summers World Cup, it would be easier to pry O'Neill from under John Delaney and the FAI.
While the FAI announced towards the end of the qualification campaign, O'Neill had agreed to stay on, no physical contract was signed.
Stoke want their new man in place before next Monday's trip to Manchester United.
If O'Neill is going to be installed, the question is, would he go alone, or would his assistant, Roy Keane move with him?
The FAI have yet to make comment.
