Russia will not have any athletes at next month's Rio Paralympics.
The country's appeal against a ban has failed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The punishment was handed out after an independent report found evidence of state-sponsored doping. The court says the International Paralympic Committee's original decision was proportionate and within the rules.
The decision puts more pressure on Olympic officials. They opted against a blanket ban for their Games - where Russia went on to win 56 medals - 19 of them gold.
