Jonathan Sexton and Peter O'Mahony have both been ruled out of Ireland's opening match of this year's RBS Six Nations championship.

The Leinster out-half felt some tightness in his calf during training on Monday and is not available for selection for the match against Scotland this week-end.

Management felt it was best not to push him and say a decision on his inclusion for the match against Italy in Rome on February 11th will be taken next week.

Ulster's Paddy Jackson is now set to start the match at Murrayfield with Ian Keatley and Rory Scannell battling it out for a place on the bench.

A tight hamstring has ruled Peter O'Mahony out of the match in Edinburgh.  He faces a scan on a tight hamstring.

While Andrew Trimble is a doubt with a groin issue.  He did some light running on Tuesday but will continue to be monitored.
