It wasn't to be for Michaela Walsh.
The Belfast Featherweight was beaten by Stanimira Petrova on a split decision in the European Championships final today in Minsk, with the judges ruling 4-1 against her.
It means she will take home a silver medal.
Walsh says she can learn from the experience.
'Tokyo is my main focus. I got one of the hardest draws here. I beat a World champion, a European champion.
'Today wasn't my day. I thought I could have got it, but the level's so high. It was going to go either way.'
Team Ireland can still claim European gold tomorrow, with Dubliner Kellie Harrington (lightweight), and Kurt Walker (bantamweight) both going into finals in the ring.
