Ulster Exit Europe with a Whimper

Ulster's European adventure ended in Belfast this afternoon, after they were beaten by Bordeaux.

Realistically, they needed too many things to go their way for them to secure a place in the last eight, but the performance will disappoint their supporters. They found themselves 10-0 down early on, after conceding a sloppy try by Yann Lesgourgues.

They battled back to trail by 20-15 at half-time.

But they couldn't get ahead, and stay there, in the second-half, despite scoring a third try via Darren Cave. At that stage, they led 22-20. Another try would have given them the win, and the bonus point. But they didn't score in the final 22 minutes.

From a positive point of view, former Leinster out-half Ian Madigan played well for the visitors.
