The club say they've "agreed to part ways".

Wayne Rooney's left his job as Plymouth manager just seven months into a three-year contract.

The club say they've "agreed to part ways" after the former England captain picked up only four wins from 23 league games.

He leaves with them bottom of the Championship, four points from safety.

His assistant Mike Phelan and first team coach Simon Ireland have also gone.

Rooney says Plymouth Argyle will "always hold a special play in my heart" and he'll continue to look out for their results.

They play Bristol City on New Year's Day.
